It was a rollercoaster ride for RCB Fans in the first half of the opening encounter in IPL 2024. The first four overs were exhilarating with Faf Du Plessis in full form and hitting boundaries all over the stadium. Enter Mustafizur Rahman in the fifth over of the innings. Two quick wickets in the fifth over and another in the sixth over brought about a turn in the fortunes of CSK. Especially as Patidar and Maxwell departed without opening their accounts.

RCB started rebuilding the innings and again Mustafizur brought RCB to its knees by taking another two quick wickets in the twelfth over. It seemed match over for RCB and hopes dashed once again.

But wait, there was another twist in the tale. Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat rebuilt the innings once again for RCB. The rebuilding process started small and slow and immediately accelerated to quick and fast. At one time fans were praying that RCB should at least cross the score of 120 and now they easily cruised to north of 150 runs.

RCB ended up making 173 for 6 in the twenty overs. But is it enough to make a winning start in this IPL. Wait and watch…….

The IPL 2024 auction was held on December 19, 2023, at Coca Cola Arena, Dubai. The auction was held outside India for the first time. The ten IPL teams (franchises) had a combined purse of INR 262.95 crore (USD 31.58 million approx.) available to spend at this auction.
