LACKLUSTER PERFORMANCE FROM RCB, WELL-DESERVED WIN FOR CSK
If the first half of the match was a rollercoaster ride for RCB, the second half was only downhill for them. The brief spark of defiance shown by Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik in the last 5 overs of the first innings died with the run out of Dinesh Karthik on the last ball of the RCB innings.
The bowling
and the fielding of RCB were very mediocre with the bowlers giving away too
many boundaries. Fielding was pathetic at times with a number of overthrows. But
nothing to take away from the CSK batsmen who were on top of their game.
Rachin
Ravindra who debuted in IPL this year along with Ruturaj Gaikwad played a
brilliant innings and laid a solid foundation for CSK in the powerplay. Rahane
and Mitchell pitched in with decent scores. Shivam Dube, who was the impact
player, proved his mettle by batting through the end of the match ably assisted
by Jadeja.
CSK seemed
like a complete unit both while batting and bowling with the players
complimenting each other. On the other hand, RCB seemed to be floundering a
bit. Is it a case of too many superheroes in the team- something for them to
ponder about?
Ruturaj Gaikwad had a winning start as a captain. This win will add a lot to his confidence as a captain. Mustafizur Rahman was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance as he decimated the top order of RCB.
