The inaugural IPL season in 2008 witnessed the first-ever hat-trick. Lakshmipathy Balaji, representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), weaved his magic against the Kings XI Punjab team. He dismissed Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shaun Marsh and Irfan Pathan in the final over of the match to complete the hat-trick. His figures of 5 wickets for 24 runs in four overs left fans in awe.

Amit Mishra (Three Times)

The leg-spin maestro Amit Mishra holds the record for the most hat-tricks in IPL history. He achieved this remarkable feat three times:

In 2008 : Amit Mishra’s first hat-trick was registered in the inaugural season of the IPL itself. His spell of 5 wickets for 17 runs helped Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) defeat the Deccan Chargers.

In 2011 : Three years later, representing Deccan Chargers, Mishra (4-9) took his second hat-trick against the Kings XI Punjab in the league. 

In 2013 : Amit Mishra achieved his third hat-trick while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. His magical spell dismantled the Pune Warriors’ batting lineup.


Yuvraj Singh (2009)

In the same 2009 season, Yuvraj Singh, playing for Kings XI Punjab, picked up two hat-tricks.

Yuvraj Singh’s first hat-trick came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. His victims were Robin Uthappa, Jacques Kallis, and Mark Boucher.

Yuvraj Singh’s second hat-trick occurred against the Deccan Chargers. His victims were Ankit Tiwari, Manoj Tiwary, and Shardul Thakur.


Sunil Narine (2013)

The Kolkata Knight Riders’ spinner, Sunil Narine, bowled wonderfully and secured a hat-trick in 2013 against  Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). His mystery spin bamboozled batsmen David Hussey, Azhar Mahmood and Gurkeerat Singh.


Shane Watson (2014)

In 2014, from the Rajasthan Royals Shane Watson achieved hat-tricks Against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He achieved a "broken hat-trick" where he Dismissed Shikhar Dhawan on the last ball of his previous over and then came back later took two wickets in two balls (17th over) to complete the hat-trick, dismissing Moises Henriques and Karn Sharma.


Pravin Tambe (2014)

In 2014, from the Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Pravin Tambe achieved a unique and memorable feat by taking a two-ball hat-trick against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). 


Axar Patel (2016)

Playing for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in 2016, Axar Patel bowled a brilliant spell, including a hat-trick against Gujarat Lions (GL). Axar Patel triggered the collapse of the Gujarat Lions’ middle-order in the seventh over of their innings. His hat-trick victims were Dinesh Karthik, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja


Jaydev Unadkat, Andrew Tye, and Samuel Badree (2017)

In IPL 2017, these three bowlers etched their names in history:

Jaydev Unadkat (2017) : In the IPL 2017, the talented left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat etched his name in cricket history by achieving the third hat-trick of that season. Representing the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS), Unadkat’s remarkable performance helped his team secure a victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 12 runs

Andrew Tye (2017) : In the IPL 2017, the talented Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye, Playing for the Gujarat Lions at home in Rajkot, took hat trick against Rising Pune Supergiant.

Samuel Badree (2017) :  Representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he delivered the most economical spell, picking up 4 wickets for only 9 runs in four overs against Mumbai Indians (MI).


Harshal Patel (2021)

Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2021, Harshal Patel dismissed Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, and Rahul Chahar of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first three balls of the 16th over, joining the elite list.


Yuzvendra Chahal (2022)

Yuzvendra Chahal took a hat-trick while playing for the Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders. He dismissed KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins to complete the hat-trick.


Rashid Khan (2023)

Rashid Khan of the Gujarat Titans achieved his first IPL hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders. In his fourth over, he dismissed Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur consecutively to complete the hat-trick.
