EASY WIN FOR RR OVER LSG – IPL 2024

 Rajasthan Royals comfortably cruised to victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their opening match in IPL 2024. In mid-innings, a lot of experts felt that RR was around 15-20 runs short looking at the wicket. But in the end, the runs scored by RR were more than enough.

Buttler and Jaiswal made a decent start for RR although Buttler got out early. The real star of the innings for RR was skipper Sanju Sampson who hit 82 off 52 balls. He was the anchor of the RR innings and kept the strike up from one end. He was ably assisted in this by Riyan Parag who hit a scintillating 43 off 29. Jurel gave the closing touch with an unbeaten 20 off 12.

In contrast, LSG never seemed to be in the game. They first lost Quentin De Cock in the first over itself and then Paddikal and Badoni in quick succession in the powerplay overs. Deepak Hood tried to rebuild the inning with Rahul but was out fast. Nicholas Pooran played a brave innings and made a decent 64 off 41 but the acceleration was not enough. The fight seemed to have gone out of LSG when Rahul departed in the 17th over.

Sanju Sampson was adjudged Man of the Match. RR has made a winning start to the tournament. Let see if they can maintain the momentum.

The IPL 2024 auction was held on December 19, 2023, at Coca Cola Arena, Dubai. The auction was held outside India for the first time. The ten IPL teams (franchises) had a combined purse of INR 262.95 crore (USD 31.58 million approx.) available to spend at this auction. When Hardik Pandya came into the ground for the toss he was booed. The booing was so bad that Sanjay Manjrekar had to ask the crowd to behave. But this booing set the tone of the evening. Sampson won the toss and decided to field first. Trent Boult started the attack with the new ball. He took 2 wickets in the last two balls and that also wickets of Rohit Sharma and Naman Dheer. For MI, the match seemed to get over at the end of this over. They never recovered from this loss. They kept losing wickets at short intervals. All the batters barring Pandya and Tilak Verma put up no resistance to RR Bowling attack.  Nobody created an impact on RR bowlers. Both RR bowling and fielding was superb today.
